Your First Visit

Time to understand your child's vision, your options and the path ahead.

Start with your questions

Tell us what you have noticed, how your child's prescription has changed and what matters most to your family. We want to understand both the clinical picture and the daily routine a treatment needs to fit.

Bring a useful history

Bring current glasses, previous prescriptions or relevant eye records if available, a medication list and insurance information. If your child wears contact lenses, ask the office about preparation before the visit.

Understand the findings

Your doctor reviews vision and eye health and determines which measurements are needed. We explain the findings in plain language and discuss suitable options, including their limitations and responsibilities.

Talk through the commitment

Before starting treatment, ask about fitting or medication costs, follow-up, replacement lenses and what is included in the proposed plan. Insurance benefits and coverage vary. The office can discuss your individual circumstances; no online estimate replaces a personalized quotation.

Following eye growth with OCULUS Myopia Master

At Village Eyes Optometry, we use the OCULUS Myopia Master to measure axial length—the distance from the front to the back of the eye—and track changes over time. It also measures refraction and corneal curvature. These measurements help us look beyond the glasses prescription when reviewing a child's progress.

We compare follow-up measurements with the baseline and interpret the trend alongside age, prescription, eye health and the treatment being used. A single reading does not tell the whole story. The results help guide a conversation about continuing or adjusting care.

A closer look at the cornea

Corneal topography maps the curvature of the front surface of the eye. These maps can help with specialty contact-lens fitting and follow-up comparisons. Your doctor explains when this test is useful in your child’s assessment.
