About Los Angeles Myopia Control

Our mission at Los Angeles Myopia Control is to keep children seeing their best from childhood to adulthood. 

Los Angeles Myopia Control is LA's premier myopia control clinic offering state of the art technology and decades of combined experience. Since 1971 we have been located in Westwood Village in West Los Angeles next to UCLA. We have five doctors on staff at Los Angeles Myopia Control.

Los Angeles Myopia Control is part of Village Eyes Optometry, one of Los Angeles’ premier optometric practices operating in Westwood Village since 1971.  In addition to Dr. Jon Vogel, the practice boasts the talents of Dr. Bahareh Golbahar, Dr. Annie Hu-Duval, Dr. Lorin Vogel, and Dr. Donna Weiss.  

The doctors at Los Angeles Myopia Control recognize the many risks of not controlling myopia and are here to help parents in this journey.  We are here to ensure all patients the best possible vision performance by providing the highest quality vision and eye health care possible in a comfortable, professional, and “patient friendly” environment. Dr. Annie Hu-Duval

Dr. Annie Hu-Duval completed her undergraduate education in 1997 at UC Berkeley, with a Bachelor of Arts in Molecular Cell Biology. She then attended the University of Houston College of Optometry, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2002.

Dr. Hu -Duval completed a year of postgraduate (fellowship) training, with an emphasis on Contact Lenses, at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA. 

She is an active member of the American Academy of Optometry, American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, and the Los Angeles County Optometric Association.

Dr. Bahareh Golbahar

Dr. Bahareh Golbahar was raised in Southern California. She completed her undergraduate education at UCLA, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She went on to graduate with high honors from the Southern California College of Optometry where she earned her Doctorate of Optometry in 2002.

Dr. Golbahar then completed an extra year of postgraduate (fellowship) training at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA with an emphasis on Low Vision.

Dr. Golbahar is married and is a proud mom to two children. Her hobbies include reading, baking, and yoga. She is fluent in Farsi and Spanish.  To contact Dr. Golbahar by email, click here

Dr. Donna Weiss

Dr. Donna Weiss has designed custom contact lenses to successfully treat over ten thousand irregular eye surfaces due to keratoconus, systemic disease such as graft vs. host disease, corneal transplants, post-LASIK, radial keratotomy, post-Intacs and dry eye for clients all around the world in hospital, academic, private optometry and private ophthalmology clinics. 


Dr. Weiss received her first Bachelor of Science in Physiology at Northern Michigan University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2001.  She received her second Bachelor of Science degree in Visual Science along with her Doctorate of Optometry from The Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University where she graduated with honors in 2005.

Dr. Lorin Vogel

Dr. Lorin Vogel is a glaucoma certified therapeutic optometrist who specializes in dry eye disease therapy and management.

Dr. Vogel regularly fits orthokeratology lenses (aka: ortho-k/corneal refractive therapy) for patients who would like to live a life free of glasses or contacts during the daytime without surgery.

Dr. Vogel completed his undergraduate education at UCLA and earned his Doctorate of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts.   

Dr. Vogel is also a proud father, a lover of live music, a skier, and always looking forward to life’s next adventure.

Dr. Jon Vogel

Dr. Vogel graduated from UCLA in 1967 with a degree in history after graduating from Hollywood High School.  He attended the Southern California College of Optometry, and graduated (with honors) in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science in Physiological Optics and Doctorate degree in optometry.


His hobbies include surfing, skiing, stand up paddle boarding, swimming, golf, volleyball and table tennis. He is a native Californian, married with two children. He has been in private practice in Westwood Village since 1971.  He has been an adjunct clinical professor of contact lenses for Pennsylvania College of Optometry and Southern College of Optometry and is currently an adjunct clinical professor for Western College of Optometry in Pomona, California.  Dr. Vogel’s practice provides comprehensive eye examinations, fitting of all types of contact lenses.
